The Ghana Chamber of Mines has officially launched the 12th Ghana Mining Industry Awards (GMIA), inviting nominations from mining companies, contractors, service providers and industry professionals whose outstanding work contributed to Ghana’s mining industry during the 2025 reporting year.
Now in its twelfth edition, the Awards recognise excellence in innovation, safety, environmental stewardship, local content, community development and responsible mining.
Launching the Awards, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, described the GMIA as one of the industry’s most rigorous and transparent recognition programmes.
He encouraged eligible organisations and individuals to submit evidence-based nominations that clearly demonstrate measurable impact, noting that only verifiable submissions meeting the prescribed criteria will be considered.
To ensure a fair and credible process, all entries will be assessed by an independent, multi-stakeholder Awards Board, with the final results validated independently.
This year’s Awards introduce an online nominations portal, alongside the traditional downloadable nomination forms, to simplify submissions and improve the participant experience.
The Awards feature 14 public nomination categories, while technical categories, including Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Local Content and Exploration, will be determined using verified data from regulatory institutions such as the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Authority.
To qualify, nominations must be based on activities undertaken during the 2025 reporting year, include clear and verifiable evidence, satisfy the relevant assessment criteria, and be submitted before the deadline.
Nominations open on 15th July 2026 and close on 14th August 2026. Shortlisted nominees will be announced in early November, with winners honoured at the Awards ceremony on 27th November 2026.
