Asante Gold Chirano Limited has emerged winner of the Zone III edition of the 2026 Inter-Mine First Aid and Safety Competition after an impressive performance against four other companies.

The competition brought together teams from Newmont Ghana Gold Limited’s Ahafo South Mine, Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited, AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited’s Obuasi Mine, Asanko Gold Ghana Limited and Asante Gold Chirano Limited to demonstrate their knowledge, preparedness and practical skills in first aid, emergency response and workplace safety.

Throughout the competition, the teams were assessed on their ability to respond effectively to simulated emergency situations requiring sound judgement, teamwork and adherence to established safety procedures.

Asante Gold Chirano Limited distinguished itself through a strong display of coordination, composure and technical competence. The team’s consistent performance across the various exercises earned it the top position in what was a closely contested competition.

The Inter-Mine First Aid and Safety Competition provides an important opportunity for mining companies to assess their emergency preparedness, strengthen practical response capabilities and share good practices across the industry. It also reinforces the importance of maintaining high standards of occupational health and safety across mining operations.

With the Zone III competition concluded, Asante Gold Chirano Limited will progress to the national competition, where it will have the opportunity to compete against other qualifying teams.
