The Ghana Chamber of Mines presented test kits worth five million cedis to enable the three leading public laboratories to test a total of 25,000 Covid-19 cases as part of the national support to curtail the pandemic. At the Noguchi Memorial Centre, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber Mr. Sulemanu Koney handed over the kits and urged the facility to continue to lead scientific research in the country.
Receiving the items, Prof. Ampofo said the donation was very timely as the Institute was almost running out of test kits and waiting to receive more from suppliers. The Director expressed his appreciation to the membership of the Chamber on behalf of staff and called for greater partnership to achieve more excellence in medical research.
Similarly, the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) and the National Public Health Reference Laboratory have all taken delivery of the kits, PPEs and equipment.
